Friendly Reminder to Record Your Volunteer Trail Work Hours

Vivika Stamolis Jan 25, 2024

This is a friendly reminder to record your time volunteering on the trails! If you've been helping clean up the trails (either as part of our work party or individually), please log your hours so we can track the work being done!

Why log individual trail work hours?

Evergreen keeps track of volunteer hours for various grants, to determine which areas need work, and to record our impacts for bolstering our fundraising, access, and advocacy efforts.

Many of our biggest projects are funded by Washington’s largest trail maintenance grant program, the Recreational Trails Program (RTP). The RTP recognizes the hours logged by Evergreen volunteers as matching funds for the grants we receive. This is huge for us as these grants often require up to 50% in matching funds.

This means that your impact is doubled when you track the time you spent out on the trail, providing revenue for future maintenance and demonstrating to land managers how much work mountain bikers get done.

If you attended one of our Work Parties and did not fill out the volunteer time sheet:

Please email your volunteer hours and location to Volunteer Manager Brandon Lester:

If you spent time cleaning up the trails outside of one of our organized Work Parties:

Option 1: Submit volunteer hours via Trailforks. Please make sure your hours are up to date, and double check to make sure you are entering in hours. I've received many that just have zeros. If you'd like to learn more about how to enter hours via trailforks use this link to see how to link your evergreen account to your TrailForks account: https://www.evergreenmtb.org/my/trail-work-tracking

View this tutorial on how to enter your solo volunteer hours on TrailForks:

Option 2: If you don't have TrailForks, please download & fill out the excel sheet to enter your hours for any of your volunteer time if you were not at one of our organized Work Parties:

Email your completed excel sheet to Volunteer Manager Brandon Lester at

*Remember to have the sheets fully filled out with dates, work description, location, and hours.

**PDF is preferred, but a JPEG will work if you are unable to convert it.
